Welcome, am hoping you will find the forum useful.

About plating, if of interest to do some of it at home, see http://www.gpwcew.com/bikes/ & http://www.caswellplating.com/

& try using the forum main search: chrome tank

Hi Steve welcome.Cadmium plating has environment issues so bolts for sale will be cheap imports and the quality of the steel is usually very poor. People tend to go for stainless simply because it,s usually better quality. I don,t know any platers in the North uk but two things to be aware of. One is that prices for plating have risen considerably and it can be a bit of a shock. Also if the material is pitted from corrosion some platers will just plate the part so you get nice chrome plate but the pitting is still there, and of course shows through. It,s important to put the parts through a polishing process either using a polishing Company or do it yourself. all the best

I used Quality Chrome for my tank. They were recommended and I was more than  happy with the results. As noted, not cheap.

Nuneaton Fine Finishing used to be THE company of choice for Custom and quality work. I haven't used them for a few years, so am a little out of touch, but give them a call. They used to do all the stuff others wouldn't touch such as two-stroke exhausts, rims, gold plating etc

Quality Chrome

I will second that. Excellent quality they did my exhaust pipes 9 years ago and the plating is still perfect. If you want them to they will send in a courier to pick the items up. Saved a lot of hassle.

Lewis Templeton did did my RGS tank. An excellent job. I only wish that I had had the foresight to take a "before" picture of it. Quite how they achieved what they did is beyond me, but it was a beautiful job, and the tank looks as good now as on the day that I picked it up.
