A10 plunger Flash magneto
« on: 27.09. 2011 07:00 »
Hi guys
A problem with my Flash. She was running perfectly one day, & then refused to fire up the next day, Stone cold DEAD.Very weak spark from the mag although blue in colour. I suspect the condensor as we had put a local condenser last year since the OE flat ones not available here. Now the question is: If I connect an external condensor to the armature center bolt via the cut out carbon on the cover, will this :
a) act as a new condensor
b) create any more problems with the mag

Tried drying out the mag with the wifes hairdryer, but no luck
Thanks

a)  It can, if the condenser inside the magneto has failed in the correct way.  You could of course remove the internal condenser, but it's a lot of work.

b) It won't do any harm. Any car ignition condenser should work.
