Which 1958 A10 had a QD hub and half-width brake?  I thought, mistakenly it seems, that they all had the full width rear hub in 58.

I've seen a '54 frame with the qd half width brake, but, now I've stumbled across a '58 FA7.5XXX frame, with cast top lugs on the downtubes and half width brake.  It seems pretty weird.  Has an HHC A10 motor (I don't know if it's original, but it's also a 58).  I'm puzzled by this.

I always thought 56 and 57 were Ariel hubs and then BSA went straight to full width cast in 58 until the end of the A10s.  *eek*

My nominally '58 iron head bitza runs a QD rear brake. But I'm not sure that helps much here.

Lightning,
The QD rear hub was fitted 1954/5 on the CA7 series of frames. I956/7 had full width Ariel hubs on the EA7 frame.
From 1958 the full width cast hub was used on the FA7 & GA7 frames.
However, the QD rear hub was used on South Australian Police bikes with GA7 frames.
The 1957 Spitfire had a QD hub but the frame was CA7A, I think.
Possibly someone has modified the bike with an appropriate swinging arm or modified the frame number.

I'm not sure what had what or when *conf* but unless my dodgy eyes deceive me  *eek*...the swing arm fitted to the frame in the pic looks like it is for the full width rear brake hub ????.....you can see the brake plate anchor lug on the right side of the swing arm.

Hey... maybe yeah.  I thought the brake switch mounting plate on the left rear loop was only found on QD half width hubs.  I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that the swinging arm was off something else.

And the chainguard mounts on the left.
Brake switch plate was fitted there on FA7 frames but not on GA7.
