Front Fork top nut

Can anyone give me the correct size of spanner/ socket tom fit the fork top nuts, as they are chrome i dont want to use the wrong one in case i damage them in fitting.

Not sure of the socket size but I am certain others on the forum can advise.
When you get one make sure to grind the countersink off the end of the socket as the top nut is quite thin and the countersink on the leading end of the socket will make it slip and chew up the new chrome nuts.

Its very near to a 32 mm socket but as metric wasnt used in the 50`s.
I put a vernier flat to flat and it measures 1.292".

Here's a pic of a fork top nut spanner I got from fleabay






By vernier it measures 33mm  1.3" between flats and is a nice snug fit.

The correct spanner is widely available from anyone selling BSA parts. The same spanner fits the swing arm frame oil tank drain plug too. BSA part number 61-3001 is what you need.
