Which Brake Shoes?
« on: 13.12. 2011 02:55 »
I want to replace the brake shoes on my 61 A10. (Front is chattering and both have little lining left)
My Spare Parts List has 42-5867 and 42-5868 front shoes and 42-5876 rear shoes.
British Only parts has several listings:

01-42-5876    SHOES,BRK, A MDL'60-62 R,A7,B40'60-64 F
SPECIAL NOTE: SUITABLE FOR BSA A GROUP REAR 1960-1962. A50,A65 REAR 1962.
A7 STANDARD FRONT 1960-1962. B40 FRONT 1961-1964. FERODO BRAND . $88.14 PR The price per pair is great.
Is it modern practice to use the rear shoes on the front wheel also now?
Any comments on NEWFREN vs FERODO?
IS LESS STANDARD something to avoid?
Thanks Gary
