Unusual Chrome BSA Petrol Tank
« on: 27.12. 2011 18:07 »
Hi All,
I spotted this BSA tank on flea bay!! number 260920439755

I have not come across two features on this tank on any BSA I have seen before
The 2 taps on one side
The sockets for a/v rubbers on the front mounts

One suggestion is that its ZB goldie?? Well its quite unlike the one on the ZB I worked on earlier this year ????
????

I'll take a guess at Goldstar plunger. If anyone can confirm i'll tell a friend of mine who needs one?

I'm 99% sure its a Goldstar plunger.

The mounting points are definitely for a rigid or plunger frame single and the amount of cutaway into the bottom of the tank also indicate single, the flip type cap with breather are Goldstar.

Attatched is a scan from the parts book for a Goldstar Plunger. Note the larger rubber front mounts, flip cap with breather.

Wilko I reckon you could let your mate know with a fair amount of confidence that its right.

Hi All
Brian,
I compared the page you sent and the tank on fleabay
I also looked up my own parts book which has the same diagram as yours

Theres a large cutaway portion on the parts book tank where the saddle nose fits
The ebay tank does NOT have this ???? ????

I phoned my friend with the ZB and he looked at his bike, the parts book pic and the ebay tank
Our conclusion is that it it wont fit with the normal saddle arrangement *ex* *ex*

Let the buyer beware!!!!

HI All
After I last posted I emailed the seller with some more questions
He replied that the tank is a 2 gallon one  ????
This is probably why it does not have the saddle cutaway as it is much shorter??
Was this for the US market?? as its not the same as in the parts book mentioned above????

Two taps on the same side usually went on Daytonas and speedway bikes as both spend most of their time banked over.
