Hello from Cheshire UK

Hi Everyone,

My name is Paul and I am in the process of rebuilding a 1958 A10 Golden Flash, to ride rather than show with an emphasis on good mechanicals rather than cosmetics. Aim is for a fairly standard bike, apart from using an alloy head and 8.25:1 pistons. Undecided on colour too, fancy dark blue...

Bought the bike as a complete non runner with a good selection of spares. It appears to have been restored about 10 years ago and completed about 1000 miles since then before developing small end trouble. Am currently working my way through the engine which is providing plenty of opportunity for spending cash and buying shiny new tools.

Also own some other bikes namely Suzuki GS1000S, GSXR750, Harley MT350 and a BSA B40WD, on which I attended the Ace Cafe Brighton Burn Up last September. Some ride that was... Was lucky enough to have my first go on an A10 on this trip and loved it, which was fortunate as I had already bought mine by then.

Am a member of the BSAOC South Cheshire Branch, a great bunch, and a source of much valuable advice. I enjoy ride outs with them as well as regular blasts about on my own. 

Have seen some great info on the forum and look forward to getting involved. Will post some A10 pics soon.

Hi Paul... good to have you with us! Brighton Burn up was great eh? I was there on my B33 parked up opposite the chip shop seating area just by the electric railway. Great bikes the A10s and I know you'll love yours when its sorted. Cheers

Hi Paul, good to have you with us, this forum is excellent and the things people here know and more importantly do is fantastic, best of luck with the rebuild,, colour has purely to suit you, mine's got dark metallic Blue on the frame and a light metallic blue for tank ,oil and toolbox not for purists but I like it so have  whatever colour you fancie. Seen pictures in the star of the south cheshire bunch in the star and they all seem to enjoy there bikes! Am still trying to get to see the warrington branch in the Antrobus how far is the whipping stocks from them? best wishes Bob Hebdon.

Hi paulo welcome to the forum. I am not in the BSA owners club but I understand they are not obsessed with bikes being original, which I always think is good. Enjoy it. All the best.

Thanks for the response everyone. Topdad. the Whipping Stocks is about 5 miles north of Holmes Chapel on the A50, not too far from Antrobus. We meet second Tuesday and last Thursday of the month. Be good to see you one night, pahaps when the light evenings return...
