I started the pull down of my motor today...   *smile*
just as I thought...   20+ year old NEW +.020" pistons
looking good inside...

 *smile* The previous owner had intentions to rebuild her but didnt know about this site for help...
it sat in his shed for 20+ years & in that time he did nothing to it..
he was told that it had been rebuilt when he purchased it, but wasn't sure?  ????

Looks good WozzA. What does the bottom end feel like?
I would be in two minds as to keep going or throw it back together and have a go.

The bottom end feels good... there is only sideways movement with the big ends,   *eek*
I think here must have been moisture get in around the cam followers, there is a rusty colour moisture on them & the cam..
the cam lobes & face of the followers show no sign of wear at all..
I dont know if I would trust just cleaning it up... my luck the first time it ran the Ar$e will drop out of it..    *problem*  then I'd be kicking myself for not checking everything..
I went into MODAK today & picked up a few parts on back order  *smile*

 Yep your probably right. The A65 is the first bike I've not rebuilt before riding. Hasn't gone pop yet.

I think it can get really gooey in the sludge trap. Failure to clean out my sludge trap during my first engine rebuild allowed me to have the experience of two engine rebuilds.
