How much?! splutter
« on: 30.01. 2012 17:47 »
Ive just been quoted £40+ for front and rear wheel bearings, and £160+ for chain and sprockets for my a10 plunger. Thats just ridiculous. Does anyone have any suggestions for sensible places to get this gear, or where I could find the exact bearing sizes (without pulling my transport to pieces) ?

Cheers

Try these guys for bearingas and sprokects.

www.eawmc.co.uk

They do discount for BSA Owners club members. Sprockets Unlimited are good for chain.

I'm not sure on your prices in the UK but here in OZ £40 for bearings and £160 for chain and sprockets would be a bargain. £40 is about $60 and when you consider there are five bearings thats $12 each.

Remember the rear sprocket on a plunger is the complete brake drum so £160 or $238 for a rear brake drum, chain and front sprocket once again by our standards is cheap.

You could possibly save a few bob by getting the rear one rebanded.

There are cheap chinese bearings on the market at the moment but use them at your peril.
