 G'day Steve,
I've had a look for torque settings to no avail. From memory (getting worse) I tighten till swing arm is clamped then back off 1/4 turn so it's free. Use red loctite or you could make a tab washer.
Cheers

Sit on the bike (easier - get someone around your weight to sit on the bike) so that the S/A is about where it will be when ridden.
Now tighten the nut until it clamps the S/A good and tight, do NOT back it off, the S/A rotates as much as it needs to by the rubber in the silent block bushes flexing, this is on the face of it pretty unbelievable but it is how it works, the inner tube of the bush is clamped firmly between the frame sides and the rubber takes the strain.
If it's not tight all you will accomplish is to wear the end of the inner bush tubes or (worse) the frame

Ah that's right Bill. I made bronze bushes so had to resort to my method. Think my memory is catching up with yours *smile*.

The idea is to clamp the inner sleeve of the bush so it does not rotate and wear a grove in the pivot so you have to resort to cutting it out next time you change the silent bloc bushes.

another thing I noticed is the driveside pivot member of the swinging arm appears to be slightly kinked ?
The swinging arm fits perfectly & is correct dimensionally in situ . There is definately no distortion or accident damage .
The kink seems to be original as the opposite side is perfectly flat ?
Anyone seen this before ?
