49 A7 wheels
« on: 15.04. 2012 10:19 »
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT WHEEL RIMS WOULD HAVE ORIGINALLY BEEN ON A 49 A7 LONGSTROKE PLUNGER AND ARE THEY AVAILABLE. MY BROTHER HAS BOUGHT ONE (suposedly all original bike) with painted rims and on removing the paint it says made in italy I am thinking this is not right. The bike was also painted green is this an option for 49 i understod it should be black or maroon/red. Cheers Dave

According to Roy Bacons book front wheel was part no 65-5871 and rear 67-6005 both WM2 19 inch rims. Painted parts black or Devon red wheel rims chrome plated  with either black or Devon red centres gold lined or  A7 ST chrome rims with mat silver centres lined red. all the best Goldy

it says made in italy
Rusted\damaged rims must have been exchanged once upon a time.
Should not be any problem apart from absolute originality (especially as they are painted).

I think a lot of them must have been imported at sometime as I remember getting rims for a BSA C15 some years ago and they were Italian.
