Big End shells - recomendations
« on: 08.05. 2012 16:43 »
Hi All,

I am about to start putting the engine back together and I need to source some big end shells. Can anyone recommend a particular brand? Or are the all much of a muchness?

Many thanks

Hi Duncan
I've only ever replaced two sets, both purchased from C&D autos and no problems with them, but to be honest I can't recall anybody complaining of poor quality shells.
Be sure if someone has had an issue with a set they chime in

Hi Bill,

Thanks, I did a search but nothing came up re:poor quality or any issues with a particular brand. Knowing C & D they would not supply iffy parts.

Cheers

In short use Aluminium/Tin with an oil filter for road and Copper/Lead/Indium for racing. Glacier are best for Aluminium/Tin, Clevite are best for current production Copper/Lead/Indium.
