« on: 10.05. 2012 07:46 »
Hello everyone hows it going just a question I've got my a10 when its hot after a run is smoking up and it seems to be coming from the little hole near the camshaft/ camshaft breather  behind the inner primary cover it only does it when hot and Im embarrassed by it any ideas what could be causing this? Everything is new in the motor and i use penrite enduro 25w-70 oil,
Thanks heaps,
Daniel

 G'day Dan,
smoke from the breather means blow by the rings or your oil is burning  *eek*.
How new are the rings and bore. She might have glazed the bore.
Do a compression test when cold and another when hot.
25/70 might be ok in the desert heat or a worn motor, try 20/50. Do you have a spin on filter in the return line?
Cheers
Had another thought. Might be spitting oil from the breather onto the ex pipe.

Hello Muskrat,
Thanks for that the piston and rings have only done 1200 miles and last time i had the barrel of all looked well ok what oil should i use then as i went of the penrite catalogue and I've read alot about oils here on the forum do i use a penrite oil for gas or a normal 20w-50 as i was under the impression these new oils aren't good with yellow metals etc. Nope no spin on filter just running the srm stainless sump and magnetic plug and stainless tank filter. i was under the impression it could be the cork for the breather or the oil tank breather maybe, thanks for that more investigating to be done

G'day Daniel,
Sounds like crankcase pressure like Muskrat said, did you re-new the cork washer,
the timed breather washer behind the timing pinion? Also, if new rings, could be
taking some time to bed inn. I would ride for another 1500 or so & then have another
look. Also, with that breather hole, I put a tube from the hole down to the bottom
of the frame & attach with a cable tie, saves oil all over the place & you can keep
tabs on whats coming out,

Or run a tube into your aircleaner and pretend it doesn't exist! Recycling, very green!
