« on: 26.05. 2012 07:46 »
Does any of the Australian members have any good experience with somebody who does wheel respoking/straightening please?? Ideally in/around Melbourne but I guess if the price and outcome is good elsewhere, then I could mail off....any experiences/thoughts appreciated, cheers

I've have had two sets of wheels done by Phil at Lightfoot Engineering and have been very happy with the results.

He's very knowledgable & I'm impressed with quality of the work I have seen

Hi Dutch, I just tried the web address and it doesn't connect, can you check it please, I'd like to take a look at his work....
Mark/Wozza, thanks for the updates too, I contacted Phil and he rang me - I agree he loves a chat about BSA's!! sounds like he has a nice Gold Star too..........Can you advise what he did on your wheels and how "bad" they were before he had them?? cheers

Sorry Jules, I put an 's' instead of a 'z' www.ashspokedwheelz.com.au/, should've tried it first but this one worked for me.
 cheers duTch

Jules, I was lucky enough to be able to re chrome the original Jones rims which I supplied to Phil along with the powdercoated hubs. He respoked them and removed a buckle from the front one, he also did some machining on the rear crinkle hub that had been brazed previously, fitted the bearings and machined the drums. He knows his stuff

I'm having new Stainless spokes.. rims... & bearings.. also beadblast the hub centres.. Machine the inner brake surface & a small amount of polishing on the outer rim of hubs..
He trues the brake shoes to run correctly in the hub..

Basicly a TOTAL rebuild..

His B34 is a masterpiece..  also the Norton...
