1949 A7 Engine Dismantle - Cam Pinion Nut

Tips/Advice anyone?

Dismantling the engine following the Haynes manual.

The engine cases are separated with magneto, inner timing cover, and oil pump removed.

I'm having trouble getting the nut off the cam pinion.  There is no tab washer as specified in the manual.  The cam is free to spin and I can't get sufficient leverage to get the nut undone.

A couple of options.

Use a "rattle" (air operated impact gun) gun to undo the nut.

Clamp the end of the cam in a vice with soft jaws.

Once you have removed the nut you must remove the gear. Do not hit the end of the camshaft to try and get the gear off, there is a key in it that will dig into the bush if you try this.

FULLY take note of Brians caution, even when I knew I still had a moment of forgetfullness, and you don't need a keyway in the bushing..!!
 That is to say, Pull the bush OFF the shaft -DON'T drive the shaft through the bush.....
