 Hi
    Anyone out there that can help me , I have just compleated a rebuild on a Gold Flash A10 1957 Plunger,the only problem I have is that the camfollowers seem to wear out rather quickly ,I would appreciate any advice from you BSA enthusiasts,I have thought of coating the tips with stellite or some other material, just to make them last a little longer

Richard, I would check that the valve springs that you are using are the corect ones for your head.My mate had the same problem with follower wear which was traced to wrong springs fitted to a iron head that were intended for an alloy type. G/F DAVE.

                Thanks for the reply Dave and the suggestion ,I never gave the springs a thought ,but that is a valued point I will check them out , you never know.

G/F Dave has a very good observation.
Per Bacon, the Flash spring lengths are 1.531" (inner) and 1.875" (outer). Alloy head springs are 2.000" and 2.125:, respectively.
Fitted length for the alloy head is 1.312", per Dow; I find no such info for the GF head.

I think the problem you are haveing is that the hardness has worn down and needs redone you must do the cam aswell

The only thing i needed for my engine rebuild , apart from a rebore and new pistons was cam followers , the cam was fine but the followers were toast. I asked on here an people have commented that the reproduction ones are about as much use as a chocolate teapot. The srm ones are great to use in conjunction with their cam, but too hard to use with the original bsa cams. Cake street classics are supposed to do ones that are as good as the originals.
