What exhaust pipes fit which heads

My '55 Road Rocket needs exhaust headers and silencers.  I have seen on eBay that some of the headers for sale fit only late 50's and early 60's heads/motors.  

My question is how are the early to mid-year A10 heads different than the late 50's and early 60's headers?

The pipes and mufflers were a different shape from 1958 to those used from 1954-7.
You will notice that the early mufflers are cylindrically shaped and the pipes kick up at the rear on the early series.
All should fit but it depends on how "correct" you want to be.

I always reckoned that the later mufflers sounded and looked better than the earlier ones, buts thats a personal opinion of course, and will detract from authenticity as Trev. points out..........

I like and prefer the look of the cylindrical silencers - original component presentation always works best for me.  So what I am hearing any A10 exhaust header will fit and clamp to any A10 head?

What about the frame tab location where the header pipe-to-silencer clamp/bolt up?  Are those tabs in the same place on all A10 swing arm frames?

If you want to look authentic you will have to get the correct pipes as well as the mufflers.
They all mount in the same place, the bracket on the pipe bolts to the bottom front engine mount stud and the muffler tab bolts to the pillion footrest lug.
All frames are the same. (Except the scrambler, of course.)
