  • HOW IT ARRIVED ON DAY ONE
Air Cleaner Battery carrier 1953 Plunger
« on: 17.09. 2012 20:12 »
Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me with a picture showing a complete battery box or sned me the dimensions of the missing parts as I need to get the box it re-welded.

If you view the pic you will see that I have a piece missing to attach the rubber connection onto the carb.

I live in Spain and have yet to see a complete bike with all its fixtures and fittings and I am running a bit blind with the rebuild.so I would appreciate any assistance you could give me.

Many thanks,

Nigel K

I've just bought this - who's been cutting these about? - would this to be to enable fitting a pancake filter?

Yes, chopped to fit a pancake.  Easier to simply drill the spot welds from inside the box, rather than hack away and ruin the airbox completely

Try this      https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BSA-A7-A10-Battery-Carrier-Backplate-Mild-Steel-Undercoated-Rigid-Plunger/202769149391?hash=item2f35fbadcf:g:xP8AAOSwyExda9md

Looks as if someone is making the basic battery carrier/airbox mount. Fairly easy then to copy an airbox, or design a look alike  to take a modern filter, with a bit of constructive butchery.

Rubber connection hoses A7/A10 seem readily available.

Swarfy.

Yes I saw that too. I will have to stray from standard as I'll be using a later alloy head which has more downdraught ( if it'll fit) so I expect to be using something more modern than the volks.
