Rusted swing arm
« on: 03.11. 2012 23:48 »
Anyone got a suggestion how to remove a rusted swing arm from the frame.  The swing arm axle is rusted to the silent bloc bushes. Can I jack the frame apart to get a cutting blade in between the interior of the frame and the end of the swing arm.  Any suggestions appreciated

I have done this job and yes what you describe is how to do it. You can also pull the left hand side towards the left which should open the gap on the right side a bit to allow the cutting blade in. I got about half way through the tube and the broke off the rest by levering it back and forth.

Look up my or other posts on replacing the blocs it's a very messy job!

Success!!!  Took all day but the good news is the frame survived, the swing arm survived,  and there was not too much blood.
Need to recover before I  tackle the silent bloc's.
Think I will go have a glass of scotch and be nice to the girlfriend. Thanks for the helpful advice
