Engine Recondition

 Hi to all ,

 I took off the engine. I order piston rings , bush cranshaft , small end shells , bush idler and new cylinder liners.
My question is : I need to make 1000 miles for that or less ?

 Sorry Renos but I don't quite understand. Do you mean the motor has only done 1000 miles since rebuild and needs these parts?

Yes, personally I think 1000 miles is enough. After a rebuild I change the oil after just 50 miles, then again at 500 and again at 1000 after that every 1000 or before. I was taught to use small throttle openings but let it rev out fully, and gradually increase things from there while running in.

Yes,
This bit is very important!!
It is throttle opening that you need to avoid!  Build up the power levels gradually but you can use up to 3/4 max revs without any worry as long as it is all without any more than light throttle for the first 500 or so and then half throttle for at least the next 500.
You always need "Some" load though so don't run for long without actually riding.

Agreed, if you're too gentle, the rings won't bed in, the bores glaze up and it will use oil.
