I would prefer to polish alloy cases/covers vs chroming them.  What have you guys found useful for the numerous engine alloy covers found on our BSA's?

Thanks,

Steve

Because I havent much equipment, I do it the hard way: fine emory > P280, lots of fine steel wool, small steel brush on Dremmel for tricky bits, then solvol and rag, then buffing cloth. My ex is going to give me back the bench polisher for the larger areas, but I quite enjoy the process of hand polishing, especially round all the lovely cast shapes, e.g.carby (my kids say I must be dumb and bored but!) No debate with Gav here, but if you'd like to see a second method, I started a thread back when I polished out a nearly scrap gearbox cover. Here it is: http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php/topic,3133.0.html .
