I am attempting to remove the sludge trap tube from the crank of my 51 A10 G.F.
I have removed the end plugs, impact driver did the job, but now I am stumped. Other information on the net advised that a bolt was located on the flywheel to hold the tube in place. Mine does not have this bolt, perhaps this is a Triumph thing? When I look in the sludge trap from the timing side I see a funnel shaped end, (inwards) with a hole approx. 6mm through the centre which gives a clear view through the trap. Looking from the drive side I see the same funnel shaped end but it is about 1/3 of the way into the tap. I was expecting to clearly see the wider end of the tube at the drive side and be able to knock it out. Obviously not!!
Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo of any use so hope this limited description is helpful.
There is always the possibility that a previous owner modified / butchered this trap.
