Super Rocket Tank mounting
« on: 08.03. 2013 20:57 »
Hi all,

When I took the fuel tank off I've found what appears to be pipe insulation around the frame to hold the tank. I very much doubt this is correct.
Anyone help with what the Super Rocket fuel tank should be mounted on/with?

Thanks,
Shaun

Pipe insulation is as good as anything. Originally pieces of rubber wrapped around the top tube.

Hi Shaun.
Must agree with Trev the part split pipe insulation is ideal, retained with some tape works well, also recommend you have the rubber buffers (11042-8052) fitted to either side of the intermediate frame tube and the front security plate 11167-8085.

Hi Shaun,

BSA designed 2 different sized rubber bridges to do this job on the A50/A65 models.  One for the rear and one for the front.  I modify these bridges to use on my pre-unit models and have templates made to the correct dimensions.  The insides don't need touching but I cut the outsides to size using a cutting disc on an angle grinder.  It's a bit messy and dusty (facemask and eye protection required) but it makes a really good solid job.

The attached image of the templates gives you an idea what they finally look like.

Thanks guys. It's only had the pipe cladding on so I'll look at the buffers also.

Cheers, Shaun
