Coverting RGS to std footrests
« on: 17.04. 2013 18:58 »
I am looking to convert a RGS to std front footrests and rear brake pedal.

I have tracked down, hopefully, the correct front footrests and fixing bolt but would appreciate some help/advice on the correct rear brake pedal that I need?

Does anybody have a photo of what I am looking for and is there a BSA part No for the correct part?

Do I need one with an internal spline or a smooth bore and do I need to replace the brake pedal fulcrum pin? Should it have an adj pedal stop?

Thanks

Same brake pedal as 1954/5 A7, A10, B31, B33.Part No. 42-7003.
It has a smooth bore and I imagine it would use the same fulcrum pin.

Thanks Trev

Do you know if it had a pedal stop adjuster or did it just rest under the foot rest rubber?

Does anybody have a photo?

Hi Sprint,
Attached are a couple of pics of the forward footrest brake pedal, Yes it does have a bolt threaded through as an adjustable stop
It fits onto the same pivot as the rearset pedal
Where are you based by the way?

Hi John

Thanks for the photos, very helpful.

I am based in the East Sussex area of the UK.

I guess the problem now will be finding one?

HI Andy,
The pedal in the last pic is one I bought on ebay with the intention of fitting forward rests and brake pedal to my RGS project, I'm still a bit undecided which way to go???????

Cheers

Andy,
John has shown exactly what you want. There should be a tab welded on the frame for the adjuster to bear upon. (obviously)
Here in Oz those pedals are very hard to find. The Goldie builders snap them up very quickly.

Thanks for the info Trev.

Looks like it is the same here in the UK with regards to availability? There seems to be manufacture of the short clubmans pedal yet I would have thought there would be an equal No of people who are after the touring version as well to justify having some of them made?

Hi Andy,
Send me a pm and make me an offer on the brake pedal
I can bring it to Stafford if that would help?
