Is the ignition fully advanced or retarded with the handlebar lever in the fully forward position, cable slack?

Once started can it simply be left in the fully advanced position or is it necessary to retard it a slow speeds?

The Lucas K2F is "slack wire advance". Only retard if the engine pinks up a long uphill stretch although I prefer to drop a cog. I never have to touch mine unless starting when I retard by half the lever travel.

Changing down a gear is much healthier than retarding the ignition.

Some bikes won't idle well unless you retard it a bit.

Fully advanced with the lever forward.
