brand new - remanufactured alloy head
« on: 09.07. 2013 16:56 »
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BSA-Rocket-Gold-Star-Alloy-Cylinder-Head-Brand-New-Rocket-Goldie-RGS-/390623542220?

Looks nice, been relisted though, description maybe put some buyers off, think if I'd listed it I'd have shied off the brand new claim, tad confusing

All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

For that price it would want to be brand new.
But it might be. Re-manufactured is an ambiguous term. Same bloke who's selling new thick-flange barrels.
Its the 'listing for a friend' bit I dont buy!

If the head is genuinely 'brand new' I'd like to know who cast it and where.  As for price, buying a scruffy 'unknown' ally head for a few hundred pounds (recent ebay prices have been in this region) and then having to find a further few hundred for machining (for those of us without extensive machine shop facilities), new guides etc. quickly approaches the £750 starting figure.  Buying 'unseen' would be my biggest concern - and I note the 'no returns' statement.
I wonder if it's cast with -1549, ready to be overstamped with -1571.  Have I remembered those numbers right?

If anyone has a large valve head going spare I'm interested!

Nice price, then spend another £200 on valves, springs, cups, collets retainers etc.... *eek*
