sump plate oil leak

I got the SRM sump cover kit for my 1957 A7.  Like an idiot, I dropped one of the gaskets in my oil catch bin.  I put it on anyway, but it leaked some oil overnight.  I ordered a set of replacement gaskets and put them on very carefully.  It's still weeping oil around that sump cover.  It didn't leak before.  The SRM gaskets seemed pretty thick, and the replacement gaskets I got seemed a bit thin.  Could this be the cause for my oil leak?

had the same with mine Frenchy, took it off and cleaned all faces then coated with sealer, seemed ok after for quite some time but notice a leak under the engine a few days ago, haven't had time to look at it yet, grandkids , visitors , garden and shed sorting, will try to have a look tomorrow

I have the same issue, but don't pay much attention to it. At this moment, I'm forgetting if the threaded holes pass into the crankcase. If so, maybe it's seepage around the threads and under the screw heads or past split washers, neither of which are actually sealed.

Just realized,  in my case at least,  maybe the leakage is around the helicoils.

G'day Frenchy. I find the thicker gaskets and permatex #3 are best there. A bit of thread sealant on the screws might help as well.
Three of mine (not SRM) sealed from day one.

Jeez, I thought it was only me that has leaks from his SRM sump plate. When I say leaks, it's kind of like a drop every day or so, but it still annoys when it's the only leak on the bike and gets spread a bit in the wind so looks worse than it really is. I haven't found the source yet so will try the sealant on the 4 screws next. Cheers.

 The threads 'in my cases' are blind, so can't leak there. I have for now a stock plate, and am using 3Bond no gasket, and haven't looked for seepage but thus far doesn't leave drips  .

 Just changed the oil the other day and put the cover back on with just a wipe of the surfaces- seems ok, but time may tell....

  There's definitely minor seepage from other places, but still not enough to drip. So long as it takes me places, I'm happy

My SRM plate seems OK. As noted elsewhere, I didn't like the idea of using the screws provided for this either and so had Barleycorn make me up some extended studs. Mine is fitted with the thicker gaskets and blue hylomar.

I examined it a bit last night and there was quite a bit of oil build up on the screw heads.  I used the SRM hex screws.  I emailed them and asked about the thicker gaskets.  They sell replacement gaskets, but the guy didn't know if they were any thicker than stock gaskets.  I'll get some thread sealer, too.  I'm surprised to hear that this has happened to some of you also.

Also, where could I get some thicker gaskets?  I could make some, I suppose, if I can't find any for sale.

I make all my gaskets from 0.4 or 0.8mm oil jointing, from a good auto parts store. $10 would get enough to make a full set for motor, g/box and primary.

I used the allen bolts that came with mine and the oil comes down the threads, my holes are not blind. Next time I take it off I will fill the threads with blue jointing compound.

I did put a thread on here some time ago offering FREE heavy duty gasket paper as I have a large roll in the garage. All I need is a jiffy bag with a stamp on it with you address. Anyone is welcome to have some. Just PM me.

Thanks Colin.  I'll check the auto parts store after work today.  It might be cheaper to buy some here than to pay 2 way international mail.  I appreciate the offer, though.
