Starting the A10

 G'day Marcus,
                Welcome along. I had a similar issue long time ago, would only ride about a mile and stop.
   As there was spark (even hot) I blamed and rebuilt carby, but no go. 
 Finally conceded to rebuild magneto, which had, I was told, the original wiring and condensors -all shot, now it's fine.
 Also check the plug leads and caps, had a minor issue with mine the other week, and replaced leads- now good again.

Hello Marqs1979. Welcome to the forum. They are all friendly, helpful folks here! Reading your symptoms, I'd say that the magneto is probably the root of your problem. I had identical problems on my A7, which was only cured with a mag rebuild. Now it starts first time, every time.

Do you think it's worth it to try switching capacitor? My new easy cap came in the mail today :) But what do you think is the capacitor that is the problem?

About tacho drive & cover, not original on my GF (belongs to the Super Rocket afaik), liked the looks and bought a set incl. the Smiths tacho, see http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/techpics/speedo_tacho.jpg

A10gf!!!  Cool bike ! Why are all new vehicles so boring ?

The easy cap is mounted :-) magnet provides spark as soon as I turn the shaft between the thumb and forefinger :-) it looks promising. Will return when I started the engine .
