Guessing competition
« on: 05.11. 2013 20:02 »
First prize of a three course meal prepared by my wife and a night at the rocks (spare room).
Guess to the nearest mile. How many miles did this pair of Mondial rings (came with new +70 pistons) do?
New bores, new pistons, gaped correctly.
What is amazing is there was only two very small scratches in the bore *dunno*
Cheers

136. Is there a statute of limitations? It could be 20 years before I get to Oz again.
Plan on signing up for the world-wide 2017 DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN'S RIDE on September 30, 2018. Watch website at https://www.gentlemansride.com for details.

The easiest way to get here is to join your local navy, they all seem to love coming down under.
a10gf is close, WozzA got my mood right.
The top ring broke first. I replaced it with a 72mm for a triumph. All went together OK, comp even, then lack of GO. Comp check RH 195, LH 135. Lifted lid (head) and saw only slight scoring, so thought of head gasket or valves. Both good. Lift the barrels (lucky I put a rag under), bits fell out all over. Never seen an oil ring in so many pieces, or a second ring for that matter. The RH rings look OK but are going in the bin anyway.
Wife says Mrs Mac's pies are good for 5 years, so plenty of time.

They were probably made from Durum Wheat (= spaghetti). Scary stuff. But very lucky the bits didn't go into the crank. Contacted the parts supplier for a comment?

Of course as much ice cold Reches as a mortal man can consume. That goes without saying.
Now for getting him out here. Only need a one way ticket, as after he's been here a week he won't want to go home.

Thanks Musky , thats really cheered me up !! bout the only thing I have won this bloody year ! i thank you for your kind invite which I happily accept.. could we leave it open ( poss for at least 2 yrs ) as I 've got to think up a suitable excuse for being missing for 6 mths ...think even my better half would miss me by then ! plus not sure about the beer situation ,i feel a challenge coming on as being mortal doesn't come into it when with good company .
Glad to hear you've got it sorted , cheers BobH

Congrats, bon apetit. And don't forget to bring back a Spitfire or two.

btw, should have been more contenders, was a funny competition theme. Muskrat, did you get any comments from supplier\manufacturer about those rings?
