Plunger Frame Alignment
« on: 27.01. 2014 21:24 »
I have all but finished the jig to make a rigid subframe for my Plunger frame but I'm having trouble with the lower engine mount location.
The main frame lugs are aroung 3/16" out of alignment, I'm pretty sure I've got the dimensions right to the drawing for the jig. Is this the norm - that the two parts of frame are pulled together to fit?
I must admit that the main spine/seat tube wasn't straight - it was kinked just under the rear engine lug so I warmed that up and straightened it - surely thay weren't meant to be like that were they?

Someone please step forward - do the two part frames fit together like a glove or did you have to use some effort to get them together on yours?

Thanks Dutch but I used this drawing along with the rigid one to make my jig and I've checked so many times that I got it right.
It looks as though the plunger subframe lines up but not the front part.

I'd say it's got a tweak somewhere for them not to line up. 3/16" isn't much after 60 years of abuse.
