QD Axle Spindle thread type and pitch??
« on: 28.01. 2014 01:50 »
Still trying to work out the details of this rear wheel alignment  on the A7 project.
I've tried modifying the short dummy axle, as well as reworking the stock main axle...
but it looks like I cannot achieve what I need. Getting down to it, I need a longer main axle,
not a longer dummy axle.

Does someone off the top of their head know the thread and pitch of a QD main axle?
(The threads that screw into the dummy axle)
I wasn't sure if they were CEI or Whitworth. I haven't  personally checked the pitch,
or the dimension. I thought perhaps someone knew.
I believe its a 67-6161 ?? part number.
Thanks in advance!
-Luke

I may have answered my own question...
I going with, YES on the CEI.
9/16 x 20tpi.
.5625 major diameter,
.498 minor diameter,
60 degree thread angle.
I got off of my lazy ass and checked it out! LOL
If anyone would think differently on any of theses specs...let me know.

I think you'll find that most 'cycle-part' threads on BSA's are in fact BSC/CEI, except some A65's/ + other later models used UNF .

Exceptions I found are generator and maybe maggie gear/sprocket nuts-3/8" BSF, and some BA on electrics and stuff, and metric on Smiths bits (top speedo cable ferrule- bottom is ?1/2"bsc), and sludge trap plugs are ? 7/8" BSF (11 tpi)

I think BSC threads over 1/2" have a 'fine' (26 TPI) and 'coarse' (20 TPI).......confirmation required on all that please..?

Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'

I know that to be true Dutch for 7/16", above 7/16" I'm not sure if they continue both 26 and 20 tpi for a few sizes then only 20 or if they all go 20tpi and 7/16 is maybe the only bi tpi size
someone here will know and might enlighten the rest of us, useful to know

Oh yeah, I forgot too, that I think 7/16" BSC (20tpi) is same as 7/16 UNF...???
