thanks for this info on the relative weight of the billet alloy vs std, vs MAPcycle steel rods
Given all the original rods are now coming on 60-70 years old and subject to fatigue, I'm moving towards steel rods for my next rebuild. If the comparative weights are accurate, the big end increase being primarily rotational will have less effect and the steel rod small end appears to be closer to std than the billet rod.
Will still pay to try and keep piston weight down but I'm convinced. Mind you my steel capped alloy rods have coped with a lot of abuse (only using 6" rods though)
