8 inch front brake

got an 8" front drum but not sure what im doing wrong.Have put all new part as the manual says all in the right place  but when putting brake plate on it is sitting far to proud or am i talking crap. Any idea,s lads.the last pic is what i think is where it should sit

Hi Gary,
From your photos it looks as though the wrong bearing retainer is fitted on the brake drum side
On this side the centre hole should allow the boss on the brake plate butt up against the bearing

Check the width of the brake shoes; you might have the (incorrect) wider set, from a later A65 brake.

The retainers should have different size holes in, are the fitted wrong way round?
