1951 bsa a7 camshaft

Need to know if the camshaft end float is taken up when the gear is tightened. Thanks

Anji the cork washers that go between the breather "top hat" and the cam gear take up the end float.

And use a cork of the right thickness. 1/2 mm squish is enough. I had a long stroke here last week, the cork was that thick the top hat and inner cover were badly galled and the motor was hard to turn over. *eek*
