Ebay scam ?
« on: 24.05. 2014 17:20 »
There is a Rocket three and a Gold Star on Ebay, far too cheap. The seller has so many expensive items for sale it must be wonky. These were all for sale under a different name several weeks ago. Does anyone know anyone in the fraud dept' at ebay.

When I see these I just report the listing and then ebay cancel it if they think it is suspect.
click on help and contact, then the contact ebay tab,  select buying and then select report item, follow the instructions you will need the ebay listing number.

Yes, I was looking at them too....always from a seller with no feedback and just joined ebay the day before!
Did anyone see the very nice looking A10 with a Lyta tank, GS racing seat and 4LS brake? Not quite so obvious a scam as the price was a bit more realistic so I emailed him out of interest.....he told me the bike was in the north of Scotland and not possible for me to view it but if I paid for it he would deliver it to me for free and if I wasn't happy I could have my money back.....hmmmm!

I suspect he's selling all this stuff on consignment so could be legit.
My daughter bought a car from a consignment yard a couple of years ago and got a great buy.
The yard owner gets a % of the sale and is only interested in a fast turnover.
and most people who sell through consignment generally need to get rid of it.
Having said that I wouldn't hand the cash over until sitting on it.
The place is full of clever thieves.  - They sent all the dumb ones to New South Wales.

We did keep a few, busy making up the numbers again though most of the Banks employ them and the others run the country for us
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

I put my views on other forums about this scam and Hey Presto, all listings now removed. It was quite obvious that all photos on the adds seemed to be in different back drops. They simply nick old adverts modify them and relist. If anyone is daft enough to buy a machine in these circumstances they should consider giving up riding.

Regards Colin

PS I sold my A10 but still consider this to be the best Forum so far.

Speaking of ebay, anyone noticed you can't forward email ebay items anymore? Only ended ones?? All my mates have the same problem for the last two weeks. Frustrating having to copy and paste.

I reported the problem with the 'Send to a friend' button a couple of weeks ago and they acknowledged that it was a known problem and the techy guys were working on it. As it still  does not work I guess they are either not very good or have better things to work on. My mates are happy though as I can't be bothered to cut and paste so they have stopped receiving tempting items that they can turn into a money pit.

The trick is not to widely advertise these frauds but send them on to the plod.
Every country has a big squad devoted to internet fraud / product counterfeiting and these idiots are usually easy to catch if you have the right access to personnel details.
Getting the sale tossed off is rather like putting an alarm on your car.
The pratts just go down the road and pinch some one else's.
OTOH having the "hut hut" kicking down your front door at 2 am is a bit more of a deterrent .

there is a counterfeit sale of a G28 + side car popped up yesterday.
Probably the said same bloke
And these prices are a little more realistic although still a bit on the low side.
