clutch conundrum

Greetings all

Still tweaking the '56 A10 around my yard before venturing afar

I'm experiencing some bother setting up my clutch  *conf*

It's an SRM 4 spring affair

When I rerelease the clutch lever I do not get any take off until the handlebar clutch lever is almost fully let go  *conf*
When I do get going forward there feels like some drag in getting going
Is this normal  *????*

The lift on the clutch plates is even set with a dial gauge.
Action on the handle bar clutch lever is smooth and light with a small amount of play before the gearbox clutch lever starts to push the clutch push rod.
Gear changes are smooth

Any ideas  *????*

Did you try to give a couple of more turns on the spring nuts?

A point or two you may have covered already but in case not
when the clutch is disengaged (handlebar lever pulled back) the clutch lever arm above the gearbox should be near enough 90 degrees to the pushrod.
Pushrod  bent/dry
Check clutch cable run needs to be smooth - might be nipped
Handle bar lever  pivot (not too tight?) also the distance between lever pivot and cable pivot is often to small on after market levers, sorry at the mo can't for the life of me remember what the distance should be. is it 1 1/8 "
Ah found it yes one and one eighth inch
