G'day Rob.
New stanchions as well as bushes? Bottom bush OK in slider, top bush OK on stanchion, but lock up when all assembled? Might need to hone the top bush or polish the bottom bush. How tight is the top bush in the slider?
Amount and weight OK.
Cheers

do plungers have more oil in the forks than S/A that have 123cc, 145 is 20% more

142cc = 1950-54 plungers and early S/A's, not sure if late plungers are the same as the S/A's 213cc = 1955-63

I would not worry to much. When I rebuilt my forks with new everything they were extremely tight. The stanchions were impossible to move by hand. Once fitted to the bike the forks operated OK. I think you will find that they will bed in.

My experience as well, mine would move but stiffly, just worked 'em with oil for a couple of days when I had time and that did the trick, regards BobH

Thanks guys! I had a play again with the forks and got them to loosen up a bit. I'll keep working them over the next few days and see what happens.
