Back in the 70s I was using a BSA Lightning as everyday, year-round transport.  A solution to cold hands in winter came in the form of an Avon handlebar fairing, as used on those 50s police BSAs.  The type that pushes the headlamp forward and, to be frank, is not the most attractive 'extra'.  Despite the poor aesthetics the impact on keeping the hands warm was pretty good, simply by keeping them out of the breeze.  Oh, and it didn't load the electrics either, of course!

I am running keis heated grips on my A10 with Dynamo, 35w headlamp everything else led round town have to switch to low but over 40 okay, also have a 9amp Battery fitted

The point about the fairing is a good one, breaking the breeze around your digits makes a big difference. I modify MX hand guards to fit rather than going the whole fairing route.

I also used to have a fairing which coupled with waterproff Mitts allowed me to ride all year round off course I was also A) younger (read dafter ) and B) certainly more hardy than I am now ,from memory , poss flawed by time never seemed to have an issue with cold hands, BobH,

Funny thing I never had cold hands on a bike but used to get white finger at other times.
I did have an Avon full fairing , I recall being advised to watch my speed into corners when  it was on, found out what they meant on the first corner but got round it in a fashion
