great family fun day mk 2
« on: 22.09. 2014 16:31 »
Yesterday we had a great fun day out without alas a single BSA in sight ( wash my mouth out ) at the Southport airshow. Fantastic display kicked off with a chance to sit in a spitfire ,there parked on the prom ! and the queue wasn't that big reasonable contribution to RAFB fund required , (luckily My Son was with us so if they had demanded my first born it could have been done    >:D )  , kicked off with the raf red arrows ,boy can they fly, my grandsons were speechless and i was just sitting in the cockpit has they flew by to give me a great picture (thank you Rob ; you're back in the will for that ) later  the Battle of Britain flight along with there Canadian cousin 2 lancs + spit + hurricane = 10 merlins = a wonderful sound plus agreat display = a lot of very happy people ,quite afew with tears in there eyes. My boys and I saw and heard something they won't experience again ,fanatastic ,glorious Every one was waving like mad as they flew home!! This was followed by the New typhoon fighter ,what a difference ,what a noise and brings a whole new dimension to "opening the tap " finished off with a canberra and a hunter and closed by the mighty Avro Vulcan  another great sight and sound could see her 5miles away awaiting clearance and then she ran in ..low and at full throttle ,out of this world , We'd had a wonderful time oh and did I mention I sat in a SPITFIRE , sorry to shout , bobH

Lucky so and so!

I'd like to see the pictures a bit larger than 350 x 262 though. You should be ok at 800 wide.

Bob,

Great pictures. Were you able to locate the kickstart lever? It's a great family photo and, even though lo-res, you can see the resemblance. Now, about the photo from the over the right wing, did you have a team of photographers there or did you buy the all-day pass to the cockpit?

Hi Richard, they needed a crowbar to remove me and before someone else says it that wasn't due to me being that enormous !! The RAF had 4 guys helping with photos and on my pc you can see the hawk trainers clearly , I ve got a video of the 2 lancs and escort which I'll try to upload , was something to see , haven't stopped yakking about it since ,thanks  the reply BobH
