My bike has been off the road for the last 5 weeks while having the maggy reconditioned by
Chris at Zochy's mags http://www.zochys-magnetos.com/
You can imagine my disappointment when I opened the parcel to find this...   
It looks like Australia post has been using the parcel for batting practice...   

A quick phone call to Chris ( who posted the item in good condition ) & he will replace the broken part free of charge...  & cover my return postage cost...   no hassles...

 Geez Wozz, that sucks, stick it up 'em...heard on the wireless earlier that they could be a thing of the past, get 'em while you can it took nine days for a letter to get to me from eyesight distance away(parking issue crap from the council)   ggrrr..Rr

Good move by the sender to replace the parts. Have to say that had the dose of bubblewrap been adequate, then the post guys could have been playing football with the parcel with no damage. As we all know, anything can happen in transfer, so IMO always go for warproof packaging + insurance.

Joy to anger in 2.3 seconds. I know the feeling. Unfortunately we are at their (transport co's) mercy.
A side question. Zochy's is at Seven Hills, Sydney. So is Peter Scott. That would have to be a pretty big coincidence, or is Peter retiring? He did my magy 30 odd years ago.

I've had a number of similar experiences. The worst was when a guy posted four Gold Star mags to me and three had the tops smashed off. Most of you will be familiar with Goldie mags, MO1 type with triangular end where the dynamo fits. Three had the triangular bits smashed off the top. I always advise customers to wrap their mags in a thick towel and make sure the ends are well padded. A mistake a lot of people make is wrapping layers of stuff around the mag and nothing on the ends so when Postie drops the box on its end the impact of van floor on armature end shocks up the armature shaft and smashes the cam housing off, as in Wozza's mag. Also, don't use bubble wrap. By the time the package has been bounced around all our country lanes all the bubbles have burst (just like a party hangover) and your mag sounds like shrapnel in a box........

               I don't think Peter Scott is retiring, I have wound a few generator armatures for him in the last 6 months.
Just coincidence that Chris is also in Seven Hills.

Hi when sending a parcel in the post i always us screwed up news paper packed tight it's very effective and cheap hope this helps.

Bit of a up date... First the good news...:
The Maggy was returned to Chris & was fixed & sent back to me the next day 
Installed it today... 2 kicks & she fired into life again.. 

Now the bad news...:
I took the bike to get some fuel, about a Km from home I lost drive WTF?
went home got the ute & bought her back to the shed, pulled the clutch apart to discover the
6 spring inner basked had stripped all it's tangs... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I cant win...

Peter Scott rebuilt the magneto on my A7 10 years ago, and it has been perfect since (touch wood!) Good to hear he hasn't retired yet as I have another for him.
I do remember him saying to me, "pad the maggy well so that aust post can kick it about"

G'day Dutch...  Yeah the 6 spring is getting the @rse soon..  watch this space... 

Just discovered while playing silly buggers with the clutch ..
I disconnected the rear brake electrics while the foot brake lever was wedged down..
re connected the electrics after I had finished...   
I did'nt notice the stop light was left on All Night...

The globe got hot & distorted the plastic cover.. 
Yep BUGGA...
