She's alive!
« on: 20.04. 2015 10:23 »
Hi all,
Finally got the Suoer Rocket running. The 12v conversion seems good that I got from SRM.
Just one question.....it's taking about 4/5 kicks to get going from cold then the same when hot. I'm getting a but of a blow out from the carb every now and then too when kicking.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Shaun

G'day Shaun.
Either a bit lean or advanced or both. What colour are the plugs?
Cheers

I'd favour lean as the electri ignition I've put on should do the advance itself.
I'll have a look at the plug colour and pop a pic of them on.
Cheers.

I'm leaning towards timing. Initial set up should be to full advance. Then use a strobe light and degree wheel off the cush drive nut (primary side crank nut). Full retard at idle should be around 5 degrees. Another point with electronic ignition is if the battery is getting low or the wiring a bit iffy they tend to advance the timing.

All the wiring is new & battery fully charged. I set the timing as per SRM instruction for their kit but will double check with strobe.
Cheers

Quick update. Checked with strobe today and was at 15 btdc. Adjusted the timing to the max and only managed 20. Spoke to SRM and apparently there were a few Boyers where the magnets were off so need to do a little mod to allow it to time correctly.
