Engine numbers
« on: 20.03. 2015 20:02 »
Thank you for accepting my membership to this board.

I have the chart with the engine and frame numbers for BSA A7 and A10s. But I cannot figure out what exactly I am looking at. The Bike I am looking to buy is listed as a 1956 Golden Flash A10. I asked for the engine and frame numbers  CA10 42XX engine and CA7119XX frame. I would assume that it was a 1954 motor and a 1955 swing arm frame. I own a 62 GS and it was not that difficult to decipher the codes to see if they could have left the factory together. This one presents more of a challenge. Can anyone give some insight on what I might be looking at?

Thank you!

G'day jawthree  *welcome*.
I think you have one X too many in the frame #. CA10.42XX and CA7.119X = 1954 A10 (s/a).
Cheers

Hi KiwiGF

I last had an A10 1967 and got my second one 2014. way too long a wait.

Re engine numbers, you say yours left BSA for Liverpool. How did you find this out? is there a link on this site or a web address for engine/model info?

Thanks for the link kiwi
I had a B31 as well. Absolutely loved it. Such fun and never let me down even got me to work in the snow back in '71. eventually went to the garage one morning to find I had a flat tyre, then the insurance was due, daughter had just been born and skint so had to sell it. Buttttt, it's next on my list.
