was this bike produced to race in states against triumph i understand they had to produce 200 to enter daytona

G'day nimrod650.
The long stroke Star Twin SS had'm, then the '54 Shooting Star with alloy head had the bolt on manifold for single carb or separate manifolds for twin carbs. I'm not sure if they were dispatched from the factory with the twin carbs as an optional extra, or sold separately ass a go fast goodie.
