Thread size/ type Petrol tank bolt A7

Hi does anyone know what thread size the centre petrol tank mounting bolt is?

It's ok i found it, it's 26tpi 3/8 cycle  *smile*

I was missing all the tank mounting bolts for my 60/61 so duly ordered a tank bolt 42-8011 (3/8?)  only to find it didnt fit into the frame thread 5/16, so I then ordered the "socket" shown in the parts book 42-4078 which the 42-8011 bolt screws nicely into thinking it might be the right sizes but that is even bigger (9/16?) and no way in h#ll its going into the frame  .

The 5/16th frame hole looks unadulterated. What size hole should the fitting in the frame top tube actually be and does anyone have a tank off so can take a picture picture of it. Am tempted to make an adapter rather than start drilling so that the socket can be screwed in...

So much easier when you know what should actually be there  *conf2*
A good rider periodically checks all nuts and bolts with a spanner to see that they are tight - Instruction Manual for BSA B series, p46, para 2.
