A10 GF, original shocks lenght?
« on: 11.07. 2015 11:25 »
Hi,

I'm about to order a new set of the classic Hagon shocks for my 1960 BSA A10 Golden Flash.

Do any of You know the original lenght between the eyes in the shock absorbers, that I have to order?

And do any of You also know the original spring rate? (in kg/cm or lbs/inch's)

Regards,

Frederik, Denmark

Hi Frederik,
don't know the springrate but the length is 32cm from this hagon shoks.
My experience is they are expencive, and won't stay a long time.
After marked shocks are cheap andminestay much longer as Hagons.

Regards
Klaus

That's interesting. i wonder why the more expensive Hagons would not last as long as cheaper brands. Might it be that Hagons are put on for racing and aftermarket are used for touring?

Thank You both of You  *smile*

I have a set of new Hagon shocks on my A65 Lightning, they have only been mounted for a couple of months, but I'm very satisfied with the performance and the build quality.

Klaus - How do You mean, that the Hagon's wont stay a long time?

I suppose that the chrome on the after marked Taiwan shocks are pretty poor? Or am I wrong?

Regards Frederik

I fitted NJB shock absorbers to my A10. They are a good quality item.  You can read about NJB shock absorbers, and the man behind the company here. http://www.classicbikersclub.com/news/njb-dampers I know nothing about Hagons other than they are a lot more expensive.

I  have two times fit these Hagon shocks, and after about two years havy use ( passenger and luggage) the damper lost oil.
I don't no why.
Since 3 years l have fit these shocks, and also in hard use, they still work well:

ok the bolts in the bushes flap a bit, thats the only fault.
