The tank was found to be too far gone to be re-chromed but I think it looks good in solid black....maybe I'll get an Indian tank one day though.

Yes I love black too. I remember reading somewhere BSA used 30 odd different blacks *eek*. I think there's 4 of them on my plunger ;).

(Indian) SA tanks are widely available. I see them on every bikejumble over here in various qualities sprayed or unsprayed.
Take your time, have a good look around and you're bound to find a good one for a decent price.

the tank on the GF that I'm working on at the moment has too many dinks to get away with re-chroming so I've been trying to make up my mind whether to look for a new tank or to go for an all paint finish - your picture has convinced me to go for an all paint finish, it looks good! *smile*

Thanks Tim, and it only has a $30 paint job courtesy 2 cans of hammerite smooth  *whistle*

Tricky to use is Hammerstein but I'm good with wet and dry  *ex* *work*
