engine/gearbox tie studs
« on: 12.03. 2017 22:16 »
 OK,

I first got the part numbers from Draganfly for the 9 engine/gearbox mounting studs. Later bikes used bolts.

Then I went to the handy chart on stainlessbits, and cross referenced the part numbers. The part numbers are listed as bolts, not studs. *conf*

So I thought maybe draganfly had the part numbers swapped around, studs listed as bolts etc. Nope, not that.

So I figured maybe Stainless bits list had them marked incorrectly. So I used the bolt length, plus 3/8 for a nut and washer and that should give me the stud length right? No, the studs on the list are actually SHORTER than the bolt (under the head) length. That cannot be.

Would anyone happen to know or have a chart that states the actual length of these studs?

 42-4132
 66-4163
 65-4182 (two required)
 27-5683
 27-5690
67-350  (three of those are required)

I know its a long shot, but I am out of ideas.

Hi Lee,
Barleycorn engineering and (I think) Motalia and maybe others sell a kit of stainless engine , gearbox studs and nuts,

 John,

You read my mind. I knew that both supplied kits for the RGS, but I failed to see the kit for A10 barley corn supplies! I was just going to order them individually.

 Thank you John!

The studs were changed for bolts with nyloc nuts in early 1959.

Parts service bulletin GA7 deals but does not specify lengths.

The bolts are probably longer to allow fitting the nyloc nut.
