Plunger rear hub
« on: 17.02. 2016 14:45 »
Hi again,
Does anyone know if the rear hub should be dead centre of the frame i.e no rim off set ?
Ivor.

Hi ivor, keep the rim centre 13 mm to the left of the hub centre (where the two halves meet).
I did mine like that and ended up with the wheel dead centre to the frame

Thanks Morris, That basically checks out with what I've found. I'm building a custom bike from a pile of bits I bought. But, I assembled and mounted the hub and pulled a line through from the headstock and it met the hub about 13mm to the left. My problem is that I'm lacing a 16" HD rim, so I need to mount the rim to the centre of the hub so as the chain clears the tire !
But thanks for clarifying the position of the hub !
Ivor.

Hi Morris, Did you use two sizes of spokes or did the offset not alter the length much ?
