A10 center stand, correct model?

Hi,

I was wondering about the center stand to my A10 Golden Flash from 1960, is the correct to my model? I fits and works ok, but the ends of the legs does not look right in my opinion.

Is it from a B31?

OOPS sorry I meant to answer that - yes that's the one.
some things to consider, there may be grease nipples on it or holes where they should be, worth fitting them if you can get them and the spring can be a challenge, various methods of stretching it to get it on, I've used the coin method with limited success - basically bend the spring and insert coins or washers in between every other coil then bend it the the other way to get washers or whatever in the other side (keeps the spring straight)
Do a search on here for centre stand spring for other suggested methods

Yes, the spring can be a problem  The coin-trick was new to me

Hi All,
While the stand is not correct for the year, these stands were fitted on the first couple of years of the swing arm frame, I believe they were also fitted throughout the life of the "Gold Star" model
In my experience they allow easier use of the centre stand due to the shape of the "feet" allowing a "roll on" action
Secondhand late stands are hard to find and usually well worn !!
I have no experience of pattern late stands quality wise
I dislike the large "leg" on the stands as it tends to dig in on corners 

To fit the springs I tie strong wire around the rear rim and tyre, and then forwards to the spring end
rotating the wheel will stretch the spring and it can be then hooked onto the stand

I leaned the bike over against the wall (the right end of the handlebar against the wall with the forks turned to the left), so I could get at the stand and had some room to work.  I hooked one end of the spring on the top pin.  I stuck a long Phillips-head screwdriver through the other end of the spring and placed the small notch in the end of the screwdriver on the lower pin.  As I pulled the screwdriver toward the bottom of the stand, the spring slid down the shaft of the screwdriver and on to the pin.  It worked pretty well.

Not me...   but I'm following this thread with interest because the center stand on my '57 GF
is EXACTLY the same as the one pictured...

I have the stand without the arm… 

Oh dear !   The stand gets dirty like the 50ies
Or greasy like the hair on the members from the 59 club 

Grease from the chain, mixed with engine oil and road dirt, Is “a hit” on the bike boots, when digging  to get the stand ready for action.

The arm was hacked off before I purchased the bike 20 years ago.

I consider buying a new stand with the arm on it. Because I have scolded my hand several times trying to get the stand down, when placing the bike on the MC lift….

Klaus from this forum contacted me and asked if we should exchange stands. He had the model of stand that I was missing and I had the model that he was missing.

So it was just perfect!  Thank You Klaus.

Viking - This stand was also missing the arm, I have welded some 12 mm stainless round bar to it, it works great.

              That is an A65 stand and I think that you have mounted it the wrong way round.
