Central oil tank?
« on: 24.10. 2015 19:46 »
Evening all, looking into fitting a central oil tank on the A10 cafe racer, found these - http://www.holtworks.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p28.html has anyone had experience with these or a few pictures?

Or has anyone successfully fitted other central oil tanks? Or adapted any to fit?

Cheers!

Hi - I have fitted central oil tanks to my SR and RGS.  The one in your link looks like a typical Dow pattern.

You might be able to get idea from my SR and RGS pictures in the "Bikes, Pictures and Members" section.  The title is "Just a Quick Hello", the thread is at the bottom of page 6, dated; 04/06/2014.

For the SR central oil tank, it is of the scrambler style with a side neck filler.  I made a simple platform and a strap from thin stainless steel, bolted through the platform either side.

For the RGS, again I made a simple platform.  This tank has a central filling neck.  It came with 4 alloy welded on female thread at the bottom and just bolt on from the bottom of the platform.

Hope this is of help.  All the best to all...

I looked at the Holtworks one and thought it seemed very well made but in the end bought an original one, a couple of pics that might help....

I had one a few years back-they barely carry enough oil so you have to keep it topped up, no chance of a velocity stack or filter unless you go twin carbs .I ended up making a stainless one which was ridiculously heavy and replaced that with a home made ally job a couple of years ago.
